Personally, I’d find this more convincing in a lab setting, and the clip does leave open many questions, ‘to what end do we hypnotize the chicken?’ I’d like to hear from Iggy Pop on that score. And is hypnosis the secret behind the legendary Tic-Tac-Toe genius of both hen and rooster? Have they been cheating all this time? Would chickens benefit from related therapies such as past-life regressions, or would resultant insights and awareness of condition lead, somewhat predictably, to depression and poultry suicide? As one character in Chicken Run clucks, “me whole life flashed before me eyes – it was really boring.”
