Yemeni president arrives in US for medical treatment

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh arrived in the United States on Saturday, apparently to treat burns and other wounds suffered in an assassination attempt in June.–Reuters

US and Yemeni officials confirmed his arrival for a private, short-term medical visit but withheld details.

I’ll bet they withheld details.  If your name is Saleh and you murder hundreds of peaceful protesters opposing your three-decade long dictatorship, you are given the VIP treatment.  If you name is Gadhafi and you murder hundreds of peaceful protesters opposing your four-decade long dictatorship, you end up dead in a ditch.  The difference in the cases?  Could it be one dictator allows the US to secretly bomb its citizens at will while the other, to put it mildly, did not?  Naw, it’s because Saleh has agreed to a “transition” where he runs for “re-election.”  So don’t be cynical, it’s all about democracy.  An pink ponies.
